The Good News of Spiritual Authority

Takeaway: Most of us are brought up to be suspicious of authority, often for good reason. Leaders have abused their power in society and in the church. Yet scriptures, like our passage this morning, repeatedly call Christians to honor those in authority. We are blessed when godly leaders can clarify objective truth and goodness by exercising a well-regulated spiritual authority. How can you recognize God’s authority through leaders, while also not following them uncritically? Can you find contentment if absolute justice isn’t served until Judgment Day?
