Lost and Found
Preacher: Kevin Nelson Series: Parables of Jesus Scripture: Luke 15:1–32
Takeaway: The father in the Parable of the Prodigal Son appears to act foolishly. His younger son rejects him and brings him shame. The father’s shame is compounded, however, as he joyfully forgives and receives his repentant son back. It is an act that confuses and surprises the sinful son, but it also angers and alienates the dutiful older son. We are invited into this parable, as our reaction to the father’s actions demonstrates whether we are lost or found. Do you believe, like the younger son, that your Heavenly Father will only receive you back as a slave? Do you believe, like the older son, that the Father owes you his favor?
