Takeaway: Humans are blind to the holiness of God and their sin. Although they don't want to admit it, modern people are more similar to ancient people than they realize inthis way. Humans have always had a tendency to domesticate God. We talk about Him as if He is at our mercy and needs us. We say, "I'm not really a religious person," or "I could never worship a god who authorizes the destruction of people." We think He is controllable, as if we can coerce Him by our actions. This is not the picture of God that the Bible gives. Who is this God? What does it mean that God is holy?
