Freedom From the Enslaver
Preacher: Cord Carlin Series: Exodus Scripture: Exodus 5:1– 6:13
Takeaway: Pharaoh is the serpent-like master who rules his subjects tyrannically. He demands, withholds, blames, and punishes. As a master, he is contrasted with Yahweh, who cares for his subjects and acts on their behalf to set them free and give them life. In this passage, Pharaoh is functioning as a ‘type’ for sin – like Pharaoh, sin reigns over us and enslaves us. Our idols demand, withhold, blame, and punish us. God alone can give true freedom, and it’s what he intends to do. What do you need freedom from?
