Takeaway: We all fear something. Legitimate fears are not relieved by running away or false boldness. Jacob must learn that the answer to his fears comes only by encountering the one true God. In a display of extraordinary power and scandalous weakness, God’s wrestling match with him completely transforms Jacob. Jacob leaves both fearless and humbly dependent. What fear is controlling you? How do you respond when fear dominates you?
