The Lord’s Prayer: Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven
Preacher: Kevin Nelson Series: The Lord’s Prayer Scripture: Matthew 6:10
If God is sovereign, why pray? We are called to pray for God’s will to be done, but does that mean resigning ourselves to fatalism? No, scripture affirms that God does answer prayer, and God wants us to bring our desires to him. Praying for God’s will isn’t an attempt to guess at his plan or gain some secret knowledge. It is learning the Father’s heart and loving what he loves. It is calling God to do what only God can do: make earth like heaven. Does God’s sovereignty tempt you to be fatalistic in your prayer life? Is the thought of “God’s will being done” good news to you?
