The Lord’s Prayer: Breaking Free from Fake Christianity

Why is prayer so difficult? Why is it the first thing discarded when life gets busy? Jesus gets to the heart of the problem as he begins to teach us how to pray. When we practice our righteousness before others, we become consumed with their approval. This leads us to use our religion for their benefit alone. When people are big, God is small. Jesus calls us to rediscover the glory of God. As John Stott says, “We have to become so conscious of God that we cease to be self-conscious.” Are you disappointed when no one appreciates your good deeds?
